The ALWET project lasts for 3 years (2004-2006) and is a logical continuation of a former successful collaboration between ECAT and EKBY. This collaboration mainly resulted in the preparation of the Inventory of Wetlands in Albania and its integration in the MedWet Database. 

During this exercise it came clear that in order for the database to be a useful tool in the hands of Albanian people it was essential that Albanian bodies were actively involved in the inventory process itself in a coordinated fashion, as well as in the day to day use and maintenance of the database.
